President's Day, Monday, February 15, 2016
Well, today I didn't get all my steps in or my water in, however I did eat well.
For lunch I had a cup of tomato soup with a salad.
For dinner I had the Schwan's LiveSmart mini pot roast
Schwan's Mini Pot Roast along with a small baked potato with I can't believe it's not butter spray and low fat shredded cheese. I also had a small side salad.
Now, I did take a dip into the valentine candy, but it was brief and didn't do anything for me. :)
One pound, one day at a time.

Ok, Here we go again
So, I haven't posted in a while, ok, not a while, like years!! What has happened to the time?? I'm not sure, but one thing I do know is that I had lost a lot of weight, and now it is creeping back up, and by creeping, I mean I am almost back to my starting weight. So, here's to new beginnings and a renewed sense of energy and desire to lose weight. Just to clarify, I am starting out here at 231 lbs. I still have a goal of losing 50lbs and I have a plan this time.
My plan starts with my diet. I have adopted the clean eating mentality and have been researching and trying new clean meals, many of which are very good. I have also gotten back to my Advocare products and will be using them in this journey. I have also increased my water intake and plan on doing better at meal planning and weekly grocery shopping.
The second part of my plan includes regular exercise. Since Christmas when I received my Fitbit, I have been trying to increase my steps DAILY!! I can tell a difference in how I feel and what the scale says when I hit those 10K steps a day. Also, I have recently purchased a membership to the local community gym. I have gone about 3 times just to get used to the set up, the equipment, times of days, etc. I am committing to going 3x a week.
Last, I have my very supportive husband and daughter on board to keep me on track. They love me the way I am, but want me to be successful, not matter what I am trying to do.
So, that is it in a nutshell. I will be posting more frequently to keep a journal of what I eat and how my journey is coming along.

Uh Oh...
Ok, so let's just say I haven't been on the diet and exercise train for a few months, and for a few months, I mean since last September 2012. A lot has been going on. We were relocated to New Orleans. Sold a house. Bought a house. And are now working on renovating a house. You know what happens when all of your dishes are packed - yeah, you eat out. You know what happens when you are super busy and don't have time to cook - yeah, you eat out. Well, this past week was the first week where we had the kitchen unpacked and we cooked all of our meals. Nice!! However, no weight loss. That's ok though, at least the hemorrhaging of the pounds packed on has stop! So, here's to hoping that next week is better and I get back on track.

Yea! Down 2lbs!
So, I did my weigh in on Monday and I was down 2lbs! I am really excited to see that little changes in my daily activities are making a difference on the scale. I finished off the week by doing some exercises with the Wii Fit and the Jillian Michaels game. She is hard!!
Last night I also did 30 minutes on the treadmill. I can see where the weekends are going to be my downfall, as it probably is for most people.
I've gone out to Pinterest to grab some Weight Watchers recipes to try for this weekend. I have to plan what I am going to cook so that my family and I aren't stuck eating bad and ruining all of the good work we did during the week!
Happy Hump Day to everyone and I hope that this week is going well for you.

On my way...
So, yesterday I did the 6 things that were on my Vitality Wins to do list. I did 17 minutes on the treadmill, then I did crunches. I hate my breakfast (big change for me), drank all the required water, ate some veggies, and got at least 6 hours of sleep. I feel good so far!

Where to Begin?
So, this post starts the beginning of my weight loss journey. I have always struggled with my weight, all my life, but seem to have been compounded when I had to have my thyroid removed because I suffered from Graves Disease. Since 2005, when I had my surgery, I have not only gained a large amount of weight, but I have tried on and off every year to loose it, without success. I am again hoping to be successful, with the help of friends and family.
I have come across a website called Vitality Wins where you compete against team mates like a game and win points/tokens, etc. The first round is 8 weeks and I hope to lose my first 10lbs in that time frame. My husband, mother, father, and friends are all playing along.
I hope to use this blog as an outlet to write about my experience and hopefully inspire someone else. This is the year that things will change!
So, for the embarrassing part, the starting numbers, my weight is 234 lbs. Hopefully, 10 months from now, that will be 50lbs less and I will be a little wiser and make better choices.
Here's to beginnings and endings!
Take care,
Cara-Lyn
